IRCC Invites 400 Canadian Experience Class Candidates in Latest Express Entry Draw

In the latest Express Entry draw, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited 400 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates to apply for permanent residency. Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 539 to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Details of the Draw:

This draw marks the second of the week, with the previous one on October 21, where 648 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates were invited, requiring a minimum CRS score of 791.

In recent months, IRCC has been conducting multiple Express Entry draws within the same week, frequently alternating between PNP and CEC draws. This trend highlights IRCC’s focus on facilitating permanent residency for candidates already living and working in Canada. This approach aligns with the government’s strategy to transition temporary residents to permanent residents, in line with the Immigration Levels Plan.

The next Immigration Levels Plan, covering 2025 to 2027, is expected to be announced by November 1, 2024. The 2024 target for new permanent residents is set at 110,770, although it’s still unclear if this goal has been met.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is Canada’s primary immigration management system, used to process applications for three key economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assesses factors like age, education, work experience, language skills, and more. Higher CRS scores increase the chances of receiving an ITA, especially for candidates nominated through PNP, who receive an additional 600 points.
